Betting on Johnny Manziel’s next landing spot is surely going to be something sports bettors have an opportunity to do in the very near future. The news of Manziel being dropped by the CFL is still pretty fresh, but I’d be shocked if some Johnny Manziel prop bets. Manziel, 23, was gambling and eating at the Planet Hollywood casino in Sin City, the newspaper reported, citing employees and other casino guests. ’We’ve got Johnny Manziel with us tonight,’ USA.on
Last week, the embattled quarterback Johnny Manziel was released from the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL after just one season in the league. Manziel worked his way up the depth chart to become the starting quarterback and improved as the season went on. Unfortunately, Manziel’s release was due to violating conditions of his contract. However, these alleged violations weren’t made public. The CFL took things a step further by barring Manziel from playing for any other team. With his future up in the air, football betting sites are listing odds for which league “Johnny Football” will play in next. Johnny Manziel Statistics

The following football betting odds are courtesy of Bovada:
*AAF (-350)
*XFL (+700)
*AFL or IFL (+700)
*CIF, NAL, or AAL (+900)
*NFL (+1200)
On the surface, these odds seem pretty straightforward. The NFL has the highest betting odds because of the longshot that it is for Manziel to play in the league again. The AAF is the odds-on favorite by a wide margin, but this option doesn’t offer much betting value. The minor football leagues all have a possibility, but their odds are a bit low. Will Manziel Play in the NFL?
Manziel left NCAAF in 2014 after two stellar years as the QB for Texas A&M. This was when he earned the nickname “Johnny Football.” Manziel won the Heisman Trophy in his freshman year, becoming the first player ever to accomplish this feat. However, his off-field troubles dropped Manziel down into the late first round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Eventually, the Cleveland Browns drafted Johnny 22nd overall.
During his rookie year, Manziel would only play in 5 games. He started two of those five games. Johnny finished with 0 passing TDs, 1 rushing TD, and 2 INTS. In his second year, Manziel earned more playing time as he saw action in 10 games and started 6 of them. Johnny would finish the 2015 season with 7 TDs, 5 INTs, a 79.4 rating, and 1,500 yards passing.
Unfortunately, his off-field antics caught up with him in the NFL, and the Cleveland Browns released him on March 11, 2016. Nearly 3 years have gone by since Manziel was on an NFL team. His inability to succeed on the field and his off-field behavior have made him untouchable with most teams.
The CFL was supposed to be an opportunity for Manziel to reestablish himself and earn another chance in the NFL. Sadly, he was released from the Alouettes and banned from the league. This definitely hurt his chances at any legitimate shots with the NFL this year.
With that said, I don’t see his next game being in the NFL. In fact, I don’t see Manziel playing in the NFL at all this year. He’ll need to go elsewhere to rehab his career before an NFL team gives him a chance to make a roster. Can Johnny Football Wait Until XFL Starts in 2020?
The XFL is the perfect league for Johnny Manziel. Vince McMahon loves colorful personalities, and his league will be looking for players that draw mainstream attention. Manziel fits that billing and more. Unfortunately, this league doesn’t start until February 2020. That means Manziel would have to wait another year before playing in a game of football.
As much as I believe he’s perfect for the league, I don’t see Johnny Football waiting another year. However, I do believe he could end up in the XFL next year no matter what he does between now and then. But, for this wager, avoid the XFL option in 2019.What is the AFL, IFL, CIF, NAL, or AAL, and will Johnny Play There?
It may come as a surprise to many of you, but there are numerous other football leagues that Johnny Manziel could possibly play in. The following is a list of these lesser known leagues that Bovada has placed betting odds on:
*AFL (+700): The Arena Football League begins in late April and does have a larger following than the rest of the leagues in this betting category. Manziel could benefit from some AFL action, but I don’t see him playing there.
*IFL (+700): The Indoor Football League is an alternative to the AFL and their season has already started. However, I don’t see Johnny joining this league either as it’s not as popular as the AFL.
*CIF (+900): The Champions Indoor Football league is the result of two smaller indoor football leagues merging. Unfortunately, they only pay their players a few hundred bucks per game. That’s chump change for Manziel.
*NAL (+900): The National Arena League started in 2017 and has 6 teams on the East Coast. The NAL is like the minor leagues for the AFL. There’s no way that Manziel plays here.
*AAL (+900): Like the NAL, this is another indoor football league that’s considered a developmental league for the AFL and IFL. No chance of Manziel suiting up in this league either.
Other than the AFL, there’s absolutely no reason for Manziel to play in any of these other leagues. In fact, I’m surprised that the betting odds aren’t higher because these leagues are far below Manziel’s talent and name. Some of these leagues only pay a few hundred dollars per game. Manziel could easily get more money than that at an autograph appearance.
GM Daryl Johnson from San Antonio talking about his thoughts on Johnny Manziel coming to the AAF and play for the Commanders.
— Apollo Audible (3-0) (@ApolloAudible) 28 February 2019Where Will Manziel Play Next?
In all likelihood, Johnny Manziel’s next football action will be with the Alliance of American Football. Although the AAF season is already underway, Manziel would be welcomed into this league as long as he didn’t commit any egregious actions in the CFL.
Since Manziel played in Texas, he would be eligible to play with the AAF’s San Antonio Commanders team. However, Commanders’ GM Daryl Johnston is taking a cautious approach to the Manziel situation. There are reports of the Commanders offering Manziel a tryout opportunity, which could happen sooner than later.
The AAF is entering its 5th weekend of games, which means the season is halfway over. However, the Commanders are in a battle with two other teams for the 2nd playoff spot in the Western Conference. They could definitely use help at the QB position as their current starting quarterback Woodside hasn’t exactly lit up the league.
If Manziel can wow the Commanders with a strong workout, it’s likely that the team will sign him to their standard contract and do their best to get him up to speed and into the games.

Last season, redshirt freshman Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel could do no wrong. He upended the mighty Crimson Tide, debunked Heisman myths and became one of the coolest cats of 2012. All the while, he seemed to be thoroughly enjoying himself as a 19- to 20-year-old college student both on and off the field, which was somewhat refreshing in this day and age.
Everybody wanted a piece of Johnny Manziel, the kid who amazed on the football field and entertained both on and off it.
But since he hoisted that Heisman Trophy in New York City, the narrative has changed. Manziel has gone from thrilling the nation on the gridiron and being jovial off of it to an “out-of-control, immature punk who’s getting in way over his head.” At least, that’s what the sports-screaming media and internet public have declared.
It first began with his controversial appearances sitting courtside at NBA games. It increased with the news of fake IDs, criticisms of his school, frat parties, Twitter pictures and beefs, and just continues to increase with every move he makes. People can’t seem to understand how a guy who has so much right now can — gasp! — act like a 20-year-old college sophomore/junior. Who does Johnny Manziel think he is, some kind of normal 20-something? The nerve of that guy.
To which I say, enough. Yes, Johnny Manziel is the face of Texas A&M football and perhaps the face of NCAA football right now. Yes, he has a responsibility to his school and his team to go out and perform and maximize his abilities in the classroom and on the field. Yes, he is drawing a lot of attention to himself, something that is greatly exacerbated by the 24/7, know-all, tell-all internet world. But at the end of the day, all Johnny Manziel is doing is what quite literally millions of college students are doing on any given day.
Full disclosure: I am 29 years old, meaning that Facebook was literally just coming out while I was in college at Penn State, and Twitter did not even exist yet. Thus, the level of scrutiny and the number of outlets people had on the internet weren’t quite as large or as fast as they are today. But I wasn’t in college 100 years ago either. The internet was alive and well, and word spread when things happened.
So think back to your college days, or reflect on the times you are experiencing now as a college student. How many of you out there haven’t tried to get in a bar or buy some alcohol with a fake ID? I’d venture to say very few of you, though there certainly are more than a few out there. Actually, I never even had a fake ID myself … but I did get busted for underage possession of alcohol because a vast majority of college students — college freshman — drink underage.
Think about how many times you were frustrated with a policy or a class or a professor at your institution. Who here hasn’t criticized their alma maters at one point or another? Think about all the fraternity or sorority parties you attended. How common was it to see someone get thrown out, for whatever reason? I know I’ve been tossed out of more than a couple in my day. And shit, think about all the Twitter beefs and showboating that get lost in the ether every single day on the internet.
Johnny Manziel isn’t doing anything outrageous. He’s not repeatedly having run-ins with the law. He’s not failing his courses, as far as we know, or committing any clear-cut NCAA violations beyond the fake ID issue which he pleaded guilty to. He’s not harming anyone, unless you want to get on your moral high horse and say he’s harming himself by bringing all this attention to himself. Feel free, but then don’t forget all the stupid shit you and your loved ones have done throughout your time on this planet.
All Johnny Manziel is doing is living his life, the life of a college student, and enjoying it, just like he said he would. Until, or should I say unless, he actually does something that harms himself or his team directly, it’s time we all shut the hell up about what Johnny Manziel should or should not be doing. Because at the end of the day, all he has to do is live his life the way he sees fit in the confines of his responsibility to his university and his team. That’s it.
At the end of the day, Johnny Manziel is a 20-year-old college kid who is doing what college kids do. He’s living, learning, growing, and sure, he’s making mistakes along the way. We all do. We all have. It just so happens that most of us don’t get crucified for it because we aren’t lucky or talented enough to be holding a bronze statue posing with a football. So please, just leave Johnny Manziel alone already … at least until the Aggies take the field.
